The author is a voracious reader, and she enjoys both fantasy and science fiction (OK, mystery novels too). So, with a nod to the fantasy books she's read, she decided to make an "out of world" scene.
This started out with wanting to take advantage of the tree generator in Bryce 5. But what good are a bunch of plain old trees? So, it was decided to make them interesting, by making them magical colors. The 'pixie' was made in Poser, and after the picture was rendered in Bryce, a difused glow camera filter was applied to the picture in Picture Publisher 9, to give it a softness, and some more sparkle.
